Man missing from Revelo is found safe

Terry Hammock suffers from a medical condition

REVELO — The search for a missing Revelo man ended safely yesterday afternoon.

Terry Dewayne Hammock, 25, walked away from his home at the B&C Townhouse Apartments on Pigskin Road around 9 a.m. Sunday morning. He was reported missing when he hadn’t returned by 9:30 p.m. that night.

The McCreary County Sheriff’s Department and McCreary County Search and Rescue responded to the initial dispatch, searching the woods behind the apartment complex from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. The search resumed at 7 a.m. Mon-day morning with pers-onnel from Pulaski and Wayne counties (includ-ing K-9 units) joining local search teams.

By that time rescue workers had issued a Golden Alert — reserved for missing adults with medical disorders — for Hammock, who suffers from a mental condition.

Yesterday while some teams continued to search the woods, others went door to door along Pig Skin Road armed with Hammock’s picture.

Hammock is about 5'10"; 140 pounds; with hazel eyes; short, brown hair; and a tattoo of a rocket on his upper right arm. He had been last seen wearing a gray shirt with blue sleeves, blue jean shorts and white shoes.

McCreary County Sheriff Gus Skinner told The Record that Hammock had gone missing about a month ago but was located in the woods behind his apartment within a short amount of time.

It took a little longer this time, but authorities located Hammock once again in the woods at approximately 2:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon about 75 yards off nearby Reservoir Road after he had been tracked from a house.

“He was a little scratched up as well as thirsty and hungry,” Sheriff Skinner said. “He will be taken for an evaluation.”
