Hospitality training course slated for May 22

Dear Editor:

What is there to do in McCreary County? Can you give me directions to….?

If you, or any of your employees, have ever gotten questions like these from visitors to our county, and you said “nothing” or “I don’t know” or had no response to give, please consider taking part in the spring 2008 Hospitality Training course on Thursday May 22.

What is hospitality training? It is more than just how to greet guests/customers and treat them with respect, although this is certainly a vital part of the training, as well as your business. The session offered on May 22nd will also include information on local attractions and destinations and how to deal with the many questions that visitors often have about the local community and where to go and what to do.

The training begins at 9:00 a.m. and should conclude about noon at the McCreary County Public Library meeting room(upstairs) with light refreshments served. Michelle Spencer from Tour SEKY will be conducting the first part of the training, which will include a discussion, video and helpful tips on dealing with the public.

The second part of our training will include guest speakers who will talk about their attraction, destination or organization, so all in attendance can get a better appreciation for what our beautiful county has to offer.

This hospitality training is not just for those working the counters, front desks, and front lines, but can be a helpful, productive training for business owners, managers and employees alike.

There is no cost to your business or employees to attend because the training is being sponsored by the McCreary County Tourist Commission. We do ask that you inform us no later than May 15, 2008 how many attendees we can expect from your business or organization.

Please contact me with any questions regarding this exciting training opportunity.

Sincerely,

Adam Phillips

Chairman
