On Hate, Lies & Half Truths

Dear Editor,

Again, I feel compelled to respond to an article in your readers’ view section of the Sept. 9 issue by Mark Hasson regarding “truth” and the Internet.

First, I want to stress that I did not infer that everything on the Internet is the truth. Just common sense alone would tell one not to believe everything they read. I did give the readers, who were interested, a starting point toward the 62 million Web sites that Mr. Ferrara mentioned in his article. I then said they could decide for themselves. If it is lies and half truths so be it, but there is plenty there to read.

I did not accuse Mr. Ferrara of “lies and half truths.” Those were his words. While I did question his generalization that they were all lies and half truths, that was not the point of my response to Mr. Ferrara; therefore, making Mr. Hasson’s response to me a straw man for his own agenda.

It is interesting that Mr. Hasson chose Odinga as the example to dispute. Is Mr. Hasson disputing as well Mr. Obama’s connections with Ayers and Dorhn? Or Rev. Wright? Or Rezko? Or Frank Marshall Davis? Or his half-brother, Abongo “Roy” Obama?

Seeing as how I listed several reasons that I could not vote for Mr. Obama, Mr. Hasson cherry picked the Internet as the issue he wanted to respond to instead of the real issues. I am very familiar with Mr. Obama’s record. His action and views on social and fiscal issues is not what I believe our founding fathers had in mind when they wrote our constitution.

To accuse me of “hate, lies, half truths or even worse fear based on these” because I disagree is just typical of the attacks some liberals lob at conservatives. A perfect example of the intolerance displayed by the left on a regular basis.

Words are cheap. I would urge the readers to find out where the candidate stands on the issues, if those issues are constitutional and then vote accordingly.

I am patriotic, responsible, serious and don’t have to question what I believe, and I am sure most of the readers are the same way.
