Pride Shines at McCreary Fest

Dear Editor,

McCrearyFest 2008 is now history and, by most accounts, was a huge success. We had a great crowd, a lot of fun and I think everyone seemed to have a good time. I want to begin by thanking all those who helped make this year's festival a success, and while I may not be able to mention everyone by name, I do want to recognize Bank of McCreary County for their generous support and sponsorship, as well as the following individuals for their contributions in various ways:

I also want to thank all the McCrearyFest board members for their hard work this year and anyone else that I may have missed, I do apologize and thank you sincerely.

I also need to apologize to many who were left waiting for the parade line up to begin. While our plan was to stage the parade line up in two locations, the state highway garage and the Lord's Gym, to cut down on traffic and congestion issues, due to circumstances beyond our control the state highway garage was not available to us that morning. Thanks to the guys and gals in the community watch and other volunteers, we were able to move the entire line up back to the Lord's Gym and keep things moving.

Again, my apologies to those left waiting at the state highway garage. This incident has already led to ideas for improvements in the parade line up for next year.

It takes many people working hard to put on an event like McCrearyFest, and I thank each and every one who contributed this year. The planning for McCrearyFest 2009 will begin soon, with ideas already being shared. Let your voice be heard.
