Word of Thanks
Dear Editor,
The Blazin Bluegrass Festival has come and gone, but the laughter and memories will linger for a long time! I have met many people since the festival in September that have told me they had a great time and are already looking forward to next year.
This was the biggest and best festival yet! I want to take this opportunity to thank all the people who helped to make this years festival a huge success. We want to thank the sponsors, without which, there would be no festival. A big “Thank You” to Anthony Taylor and the guys that helped build the stage and put up the tent, also Debbie Taylor and all of the people who helped on the gate. And “Thank you” Rita Lilley and April McCullough for working in the hospitality room. But there are two ladies that deserve special recognition. Ms. Donna Lovitt and Ms. Judy Redden worked countless hours, used their own gas, taking their own time, talking with people trying to get donations, attending meetings, setting up the festival, and of course tearing it back down, all because they love to see people have a good time.
They both also love the people of McCreary County, as do all the people on our committee. So if you meet these two ladies on the street, and you like the bluegrass festival, take a moment and tell them how much you appreciate all the hard work that they do every year. Thank you both, we love and appreciate you so very much! Another big “Thank you” goes out to all the bands and the people that shared their talent with us during the festival.
Also we can’t leave out Beth Gibson of the McCreary County Record and Andy Powell of the Voice. Thank you so much for your coverage of our
event. Another person that was a huge help, was our own Adam Phillips. He has his hand in so many activities that I don’t see how he can help everybody, but he certainly is trying. Thank you Adam!
This past year we had people from as far away as England, as well as several of our states. The majority of the counties in Kentucky were
represented, and the veterans that came, can tell you that they were made to feel very important. Which they are! The festival is a real plus for the county, bringing in people from everywhere that stay with us, and spend their money in our county.
We just want to share our love of McCreary County with the world. Our guests from England said that they have traveled all over the world, and never have then been treated any better than here in our own McCreary County. That says a lot for our people!
And last but not least, Thank you McCreary County for coming out to the Blazin Bluegrass Festival this year. You all are why we keep working!
We want you to have a good time and make memories that can last into the long days of winter. So until another year……Blazin Bluegrass 2009……watch the website www.blazinbluegrass.com for updates about next Septembers’ festival. God Bless each and every one of you!
