Job Corps: A Proven Asset

Dear Editor,

Given the support and assistance given by the Pine Knot Job Corps Center, its students and staff, with recent community projects, I just had to write to say how appreciated they are.

I especially want to thank the carpentry students and their instructors who have worked so hard in framing and mounting the mural panels in downtown Whitley City. If you have not noticed, we do have some new mural panels in place, all painted by local artist Tonya Coffey and installed by the Job Corps.

They look wonderful!

I also want to thank the welding students and instructors who did an outstanding job installing the new rails on the former Jackson building, which now houses the library addition, the AOC drug court, and, of course, the tourism and economic development offices.

Plans are also being put into place for the Job Corps to assist with some other, upcoming community projects. I believe McCreary County is very fortunate to have the Job Corps as part of our community.

Sincerely,

Adam Phillips

McCreary County Tourism & Community Events Coordinator
