STEARNS — What started in 1993 as a small encouragement for McCreary Countians to take better care of themselves has grown into one of the most anticipated events of the year.
The 16th annual health fair returns this Saturday, March 29, from 8 a.m. to noon to McCreary County Middle School on Raider Way in Stearns.
Among the free health screens are: blood pressure, body fat analysis, colon cancer test, height and weight, peak flow check, pulmonary test-ing, pulse oximetry, skin check, urinalysis and vision.
There will also be educational booths that are free to the public, including: AIDS & STD prevention, alcoholism/-drug abuse, assisted livi-ng, cancer information, diabetes, exercise pro-grams, heart disease, KY physician program, medical equipment, mental health, nutrition/weight loss, poison prevention, pre-conception information, rehabilitation therapy, smoking cessation, stress reduction, WIC program and more.
Certain lab work is available for a nominal fee. Cancer, thyroid function and blood glucose are just a few conditions which can be tested.
