ELKTON — A decision on whether or not Edward R. Yancey will be paroled has been deferred for two months.
The 47-year-old Day Ridge man was convicted three years ago of second-degree assault in the March 2004 shooting of Frankie Lee Decker Kennedy, her brother Alex Decker, and Yancey’s cousin Josh Coffey.
Yancey shot into a vehicle carrying the trio from a wooded area near his house off Day Ridge Road. Yancey was arrested following a two-hour standoff which was com-plicated by his inability to communicate with authorities. Yancey is deaf-mute.
Yancey, who is currently serving out his 10-year sentence at the Todd County Jail, first came up for parole in January 2007. On Wednesday, the parole board deferred a decision on his status for another two months.
