SOMERSET — Police are searching for a state prisoner who walked away from a work release detail at the Pulaski County Animal Shelter on Wednesday.
Gary Burgess Rollins, 48, of Parkers Lake in McCreary County, had been serving an eight month sentence in the Pulaski County Detention Center on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance and bail jumping. He was convicted in McCreary Circuit Court earlier this year.
Rollins was working at the animal shelter when he was observed leaving the premises in a white passenger car around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday. Animal shelter personnel immediately notified the Somerset Police Department.
Rollins is described as a white male, five feet eight inches tall, weighing 170 pounds. At the time of his escape, he had long brown hair and a beard. He also has numerous tattoos on his arms and neck.
Police say Rollins should be considered to be dangerous. Anyone who sees him or has information about his whereabouts should call 911 or the Somerset Police Department at (606) 678-5176.
