Delta Murphy

— Delta Murphy, age 86 years, 6 months, and 1 day, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed away Sunday, April 27, 2008 at her home.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the Whitley City First Baptist Church with Bro. Gerald Murphy officiating. Burial followed in the Pine Knot Cemetery.
She was born October 26, 1921 in Pine Knot, Kentucky to Charles Hayes and Rebecca Shepherd Hayes. She was a member of the Whitley City First Baptist Church and was involved and served as secretary and treasurer in the Civilian Conservation Corp. Before her retirement she was a floral designer and she enjoyed canning, gardening, and being a homemaker.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, Howard Murphy whom she married on April 12, 1941, a brother, Robert Leon Hayes, and two sisters, Margie Stephens and Goldie Faulk.
Survivors include three sons, Charlie Murphy, of Pine Knot, Kentucky, Howard Murphy, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Indian Harbor Beach, Florida, and Gerald Murphy and his wife, Sheila, of Hodgenville, Kentucky, a sister, Ruby Thigpen, of Clanton, Alabama, eight grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
