Herman Ray Adkins
Herman Ray Adkins, age 66, of Pine Knot, Kentucky passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 at his home.
In accordance to Mr. Adkins wishes his remains were cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
He was born September 2, 1941 in Ferreslburg, West Virginia to Woodrow Wilson Adkins and Margie McNeely Adkins. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and before his retirement he worked at Tecumseh. Herman was a member of the Pleasant Rock Baptist Church and he enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and singing, and caring for his family.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hill Adkins, of Pine Knot, Kentucky whom he married on July 23, 1966, two sons, Phillip Adkins and Damon Adkins and his wife, Rosemary, all of Pine Knot, two daughters, Crystal Colyer and her husband, John, of Science Hill, Kentucky, and Vonda Adkins, of Pine Knot, five sisters, Pearl Nelson, of Cleveland, Ohio, Edna Nelson, of Tennessee, Mary Vance, of Dayton, Ohio, Ora Dewitt, of Dayton, and Connie Bragg, of Beckley, West Virginia, and eight grandchildren.
